In Sanskrit, Prema is supreme love based on unity and cohesion.

Welcome
Kris Layman is an E-RYT 500 yoga and meditation teacher, owner, and creative coordinator of Prema Yoga Lifestyle. With thirty years of experience in the health and wellness field. Kris delights in working with individuals and groups, using a variety of techniques to support a deeper connection to feeling at home—in your body, with yourself, with nature, and within community—while listening to and taking action on your inner wisdom.

Her teaching is deeply influenced by Indu Arora, Tanya Boigenzahn, Chanti Tacoronte-Perez, Rod Stryker, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait of the Himalayan Institute, Sandra Ingerman, as well as the wisdom of nature, personal experiences, and many other remarkable teachers who have left a lasting impact.
For over 30 years, Kris has followed a path of spiritual curiosity, inner exploration, and embodied practice. Her teaching invites a weaving together of mindful movement, stretching and strength building, with the quieter arts of relaxation, Yoga Nidra, meditation, and inner journeying. Guided by a love of learning and experience, she draws from the wisdom of neuroscience, trauma healing, shamanic traditions, and herbalism—all connected by a common thread: helping others come home to their bodies, awaken their inner knowing, and live in deeper relationship with themselves, with nature, and with community.

She works with a diverse range of students, from college P.E. classes to chair yoga, offering a variety of practices to meet each person's needs. Event planning, hosting retreats, and guiding individual healing sessions allow her to hold space for each person's journey to themselves.

Kris works with a wide range of students, from college physical education classes to chair yoga groups, offering practices tailored to meet each individual’s needs. In addition to teaching, she brings her skills to event planning, hosting retreats, and guiding one-on-one healing sessions—creating welcoming spaces for each person’s unique journey back to themselves. Over the years, Kris has taught for organizations such as Carleton College, St. Olaf College, Allina Clinic, and the Northfield Public Library. She has owned and operated her own yoga studio, and for eight years, she created and taught curricula for both a yoga teacher training program and a massage therapy school. Kris holds certifications as a Reiki practitioner, 500-hour E-RYT yoga teacher, infant massage instructor, manual lymphatic drainage therapist, and has additional training in hospice care, cranio-sacral therapy, and doula support. She is licensed in massage therapy in both New Mexico and Washington State.

With her extensive background and training, Kris excels at personalizing practices to meet each student's unique needs. Outside of her work, she enjoys spending time with her son, embracing silliness, reading, hiking, camping, and traveling. Kris is deeply grateful for the many teachers who have guided her along the way and for a career that continues to inspire, challenge, and nourish her.

Bodywork/ Healing Sessions with Kris
I am fascinated with the healing potential of the body, mind, & spirit
Thank you for visiting this page.

I view each bodywork session as a dance—a mindful collaboration between two people.
Trust is essential for reaching a deep state of relaxation, and the effectiveness of a session depends on both the therapist and client working together to determine the best approach.

With over 30 years of experience, I’ve developed a keen ability to listen to the body’s cues—through muscle tension, mobility, intuition, and energy—and to work with you to support deeper healing.
Alongside offering therapeutic and relaxation massage/bodywork tailored to your needs—whether you're seeking deep tissue work, stress relief, or gentle nurturing—if you are interested in exploring a deeper layer of healing, I also integrate practices informed by energy work and shamanic traditions. These approaches honor the innate connection between body, spirit, and the natural world, always guided by your comfort and interest.

Each session begins by honoring the body’s innate capacity to heal, trusting that through presence, skill, and collaboration, true transformation can unfold.
